About a hundred members of the school and general community responded to the call for participation and walked in seventeen walks throughout September 8 – November 14, 2015. The walks were conducted mostly in silence except for speaking into an audio recorder, while I walked with them wearing a chest-mounted camera.
The walks generated about 8 hours of video with audio and another approximately 8 hours of audio from the audio recorder.
In the exhibition, a video projection filled the east wall of the gallery. It was 45:45 minutes in length and compiled video from each Confluence Field Trip, moving forward in space with each dissolve. Real time audio played through the gallery’s internal speaker system. Each of the complete walks, with combined audio from the camera and handheld audio recorder, was played on 5 flatscreens and headphones. Four-channel audio played through speakers at ear level against gallery walls.
